What we do

Granstone provides practical, hands-on help where it is most needed. We focus on essential work that improves safety, comfort, mobility, and dignity.

This can include:

  • Small home repairs and alterations

  • Plumbing, heating, and hot water issues

  • Gas safety and basic electrical safety work

  • Bathroom adaptations and safety improvements

  • Roofing and weather-related repairs

  • Door and Window repairs replacements
  • Gardening and outdoor safety work

  • Mobility and access safety (handrails, steps, trip hazards)

  • General safety, health, and wellbeing support

If something is leaking, unsafe, broken, or affecting daily living, contact us — even if you’re unsure. We help where we can.

Who we help

Granstone supports people who may struggle to get help through normal routes, especially where safety, wellbeing, or day-to-day living is affected.

Older people (60+)

People aged 60 and over who need practical help to stay safe, warm, and comfortable in their own homes.

Disabled or vulnerable people

People with disabilities, health conditions, or reduced mobility who need practical help around the home, including everyday tasks, repairs, or safety support.

Community & charities

Local organisations and charities supporting people in need, where small practical work can make a big difference.

If you’re unsure whether someone qualifies, get in touch — we’ll talk it through.

Get help

If you or someone you know needs practical help at home, you can contact Granstone directly.

Requests can come from individuals, family members, neighbours, or community organisations.

You don’t need to know exactly what’s needed — if something feels unsafe, broken, or worrying, just ask. We’ll advise.

We aim to respond as quickly as possible, based on urgency and available resources.

Why Granstone exists

Granstone was created to provide practical help where people are often left without support.
Many essential repairs and safety issues fall outside normal services or funding routes.

We exist to bridge that gap — calmly, fairly, and with respect.

Support may be fully funded or part-funded (subsidised), depending on need, safety, and available resources.

  • Community Interest Company (CIC)

  • Not run for private profit

  • Focused on safety, dignity, and long-term benefit

Not everyone can donate — help also comes through referrals or simply sharing our name and what we do.
